Snap Planets in Order

Snapchat’s Planet Order feature gamifies friendships by representing your friends as planets in a solar system. The planets are ranked based on your interactions, with the closest friends ranking as Mercury and Neptune.

This feature is only available to Snapchat plus subscribers. To improve your position in a friend’s solar system, maintain long Snap streaks and chat frequently with them.

Mercury

Mercury represents your first best friend and the one with whom you chat and share snaps most often. It is a bright red planet and has four or five red hearts around it.

The Friend Solar System feature is similar to our actual solar system in that you are the Sun and your close friends are represented as planets orbiting around you. Your first-closest friend is assigned the planet Mercury, and each subsequent friend is assigned a planet based on how frequently you interact with them.

Currently, the planets are Mars, Venus, Earth, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune. Neptune represents your ninth-closest friend. This is a unique way of prioritizing your friendships on Snapchat.

Venus

Venus represents your second-closest pal on Snapchat. Your interactions are a little less frequent than Mercury, but you still snap and chat regularly. Your friend may also comment on your stories, and you share lots of emojis together.

Jupiter is your fifth-closest buddy on Snapchat. It symbolizes a deep friendship with a lot of history, and it is represented by a yellow planet surrounded by pink, yellow, and blue stars. You and your friend might have a long conversation or meet often for coffee. You might even be a mentor to them in some way. Lastly, Neptune symbolizes your eighth-closest friend on Snapchat. This blue planet is a symbol of a strong connection.

Earth

Earth is a significant Snapchat planet order ranking. This signifies that you’re their third-most-closest friend on the app, and that you likely interact a bit less often than their inner Mercury and Venus friends. However, you’re still a close friend and they enjoy keeping in touch with you on a regular basis.

The red hearts around the Earth planet also indicate that you both maintain a long snapstreak together, which is another sign of your strong friendship. Jupiter

Snapchat Planets is a way for friends to rank their relationships with one another, similar to how our solar system works. Each friend is assigned a planet based on their level of interaction with the user, with Mercury being the closest and Neptune being the farthest.

The first Snapchat planet, Mercury, represents the person with whom you share the most streaks. A person can only be designated as a Mercury once, so it’s important to keep long Snapchat streaks with your true besties.

Mars signifies your fourth best friend and shows their Bitmoji on a orange planet backdrop with blue and purple hearts surrounding them. Conversations with this friend are more regular but less frequent than the inner planets.

Saturn

Saturn is orange-yellow with a massive golden ring and represents your sixth-closest Snapchat friend. Its ring system is comprised of 146 moons—from the haze-shrouded Titan to crater-riddled Phoebe and two-faced Iapetus.

Like Jupiter, Saturn is a giant planet composed of gaseous hydrogen and helium. The difference is that its mean density is only about 12 percent that of Earth’s.

Neptune

The last gas giant planet in the Solar System, Neptune captivates observers with its vibrant blue hue. This enigmatic color is attributed to the presence of methane in its atmosphere which absorbs red light and reflects blue.

The cold methane planet rotates once every 16 hours and is 30 Astronomical Units away from the Sun. Neptune is known for its unique ring systems that feature gaps, resonances and arcs. Its rings have been named after astronomers Galle, Leverrier, Lassell, Arago and Adams. They have a peculiarly clumped structure, which defies laws of motion, and are stabilized by the gravity of the moon Galatea. Neptune has 14 known moons, including the icy potato-shaped Larissa.
